Shazand Arak Petrochemical Company

Shazand (Arak) petrochemical complex project is one of the biggest industrial projects after the victory of the glorious Islamic revolution of Iran. This important and fundamental plan is in line with the general policy of the petrochemical industry in the field of the creation and development of parent industries, the development and prosperity of downstream industries and in harmony with the economic and social goals of the first five-year plan of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. has been put into operation.

After the initial investigations, this plan was approved by the Supreme Council of Economy in 1363. In 1364, the design and engineering of Elfin unit, which is the first and most important unit of the complex, began, and subsequently, the design and engineering contract and the purchase of machines for other units were signed, and from 1368, the installation and industrial building works began.

In the beginning of 2016, Arak Petrochemical Joint Stock Company was established with the participation of National Petrochemical Industry Company with 51% of shares and National Bank of Iran with 49% of shares, and the project was put into production within the framework of the policies of this company, which is its full implementation and exploitation.

Due to technical and economic policies, the huge Shazand (Arak) petrochemical project went through various phases during its implementation and finally reached its final operation in two distinct phases.

The first phase of operation of auxiliary service units and public and common facilities started in 1371, and process units including olefin units and downstream production units in 1372 and the following years, a set of process units were placed in the production circuit, and in the second phase and Third, the units of areas 2 and 3, including the units under the polymer and chemical production chain, were completed.

Since 1379, simultaneously with the completion of the units, the plan and development of the complex was approved with the aim of increasing the capacity of the units, the first phase of which was completed in October 1384 and the implementation of the second phase in the summer of 1386.

The full production capacity of this complex has reached more than 1,800,000 tons per year after the development plan. With the request and follow-up of the representative of Shazand city and the approval of the general assembly, the name of Arak Petrochemical Company was changed to Shazand Petrochemical Company from 08/03/2013.
