Zagros Petrochemical Company

In line with the implementation of the third program of economic, social and cultural development of the country and in order to reach the world markets and obtain a good share of the methanol market, Zagros Petrochemical Company was established in 1379. In order to empower the company to compete in global markets and also due to the presence of rich gas resources in the South Pars region and the strategic location of the region, a land area of 31 hectares in the special energy zone of South Pars was acquired and the production complex of this company was built in Asalouye port.

On the other hand, the design of the complex has been done in such a way to use the maximum energy produced in the synthesis reactors as well as the recycled energy in the reforming unit to provide the required energy, and in this way, about 205 tons of steam per hour with a pressure of 40 bar is produced and be sold.

The contract for basic engineering, detailed engineering, equipment purchase was concluded with a consortium consisting of Germany’s Lurgi and Iran’s Pidek companies, and all activities related to the implementation of construction and installation operations were carried out by Iranian contractors.

According to the contract with Lorgi and Pidek companies, the first phase started in 2010 and ended in 2015 with an annual capacity of one million six hundred and fifty thousand tons of AA grade methanol.

With the completion of the implementation of the second phase in 2018, Zagros Petrochemical Company, with an annual production capacity of three million three hundred thousand tons, became one of the five largest companies producing this product in the world.
